Cat No.:   GB0110:

By 1879, the Post Office (Kelly's) directories were becoming even more comprehensive. This one has three main sections. A County Directory (places, with details of churches, facilities, etc., and all people in each place having trades), a Court Directory (private residents, but not all households in the country areas), and also a Classified Trades Directory covering the whole county. Rather like a yellow pages.

The Newcastle section is especially comprehensive, and has a street directory with house numbers (every house!) and names of each householder. It is really easy to locate where you are on a street, as road intersections are noted, and even the locations of churches, chapels, shops, public houses, etc. There is also a separate Court Directory for Newcastle, with all residents listed in alphabetical order.

The CD is produced in PDF format for viewing using Adobe Acrobat on any computer, and is comprehensively book marked so that you can find your way around easily.
